Anne Frank # 5 (a) no walls, bolts, locks

"But always remember this, Anneke. There are no walls, there are no bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind."
-> When I first read this quote that Mr. Frank said, I suddenly thought of "When My Name Was Keoko" because they have similar ideas. I think these two books are telling how even the circumstances around you change, the fact about who you are and your thoughts in your mind can never be changed by anyone else. In this drama, Anne's family couldn't go out beyond the door because they might be caught by the Nazis. Like this, they've been controled and are in a situation that they need to obey Nazis. But the thoughts in their minds can never be changed by anyone else, and "no locks that anyone can put on your mind" means that. I definitely agree with this statement because the control over Jews doesn't mean that their minds are also getting controlled.

I agree with the fact that this quote is similar to the historical fiction books we have just finished reading because they are all based on identity, how people can't change who you are, but you can change who YOU are. I also agree wtih the whole statement because I also think that no one can change who I am. I think you did such an amazing job on your posts. Keep it up! :)

Hey great job~~
I thought the same thing. No one can make one person's mind locked up or make them not think one thing. I think that only brainwashing can really make you think a curtain way, such as in Red Scarf Girl. Since the main character does not listen to herself because she thinks Chairman Mao does not want it or she is against his thoughts, she consistently ingores her thoughts. I think no one else but yourself can block your mind. Compared to the main character in Red Scarf Girl, Anne Frank is more open minded and does not block her thoughts. Also, I agree with the quote because you can't just ingore your thoughts.
Great job~~

Oha~! Your blog is so pretty!
I agree that the quote is similar to When My name was Keoko. They have similar ideas and they are both so sad and terrible(?).
You have very interesting thought about many things and I like to listen and read your ideas and thoughts.
