Anne Frank # 9 What this play reveals

I think this play, Anne Frank, reveals so much about our need of freedom by showing how innocent people had to face death. Jews lost rights to be equal with other Germans and being forced to go to the concentration camp is the same as loosing freedom. This play also reveals how love is so powerful. Anne's family supported each other with love while hiding and gave each other hope.
Courage and hope can be found through out this play when the characters were very brave and courageous. Even though they were affected negatively by prejudice, they tried their best to not loose hope and courage. The theme of this is similar to another book, "When My Name Was Keoko" because they are both about not loosing the true identity.

Anne Frank # 8 books,movies about Holocaust

Why are there so many books, movies, documentaries, etc. about the Holocaust? Why do we keep retelling the story?
->There are so many books, megazines, news, movies, and documentaries about this one horrible event: Holocaust. And I think it is because holocaust was such a terrible event of killing so many innocent people. People need to keep on retelling this event to remember what it was about and how it affected people at that time. Also, Holocaust was a big part of history and is one of the events with lots and lots of death. Death of thousands and thousands of people can't just be ignored. Many people getting killed is not a common event and it needs to be shared through out generations, so that people can learn from this event. I, too think that this event needs to be retelled because it is important to know what happened in the past and take time thinking about the innocent death.

Anne Frank # 7 (m) Interview Survivors

If you could interview survivors of ther Holocaust, what would you ask them?
-> If I had a chance to do an interview to the survivors, I would first of all ask them how was their life in concentration camps. I know that it is a very terrible and dangerous death camp but don't know what's in there because I've never been there. I want to know how they felt while living in the camp.
I would also like to ask how they could survive in that horrible camp.

Anne Frank # 6 (e) Nightmare

How do the events following Anne's nightmare reveal tensions between Anne and two other members of the household?

-> Events following Anne's nightmare brought suspense and tension among the characters because they almost got caught by the police. Anne's nightmare showed a foreshadowing that something dangerous might happen because it was about the Jews getting caught by the Nazis. That dream brought big suspense to the family and had lots of tension when they thought that the thief was the green police who came to catch them.

Anne Frank # 5 (a) no walls, bolts, locks

"But always remember this, Anneke. There are no walls, there are no bolts, no locks that anyone can put on your mind."
-> When I first read this quote that Mr. Frank said, I suddenly thought of "When My Name Was Keoko" because they have similar ideas. I think these two books are telling how even the circumstances around you change, the fact about who you are and your thoughts in your mind can never be changed by anyone else. In this drama, Anne's family couldn't go out beyond the door because they might be caught by the Nazis. Like this, they've been controled and are in a situation that they need to obey Nazis. But the thoughts in their minds can never be changed by anyone else, and "no locks that anyone can put on your mind" means that. I definitely agree with this statement because the control over Jews doesn't mean that their minds are also getting controlled.

Anne Frank # 4- Foreshadowing

Foreshadowing is the use of clues or hints to suggest events that will occur later in the plot. Why does Mr. Frank break down when he sees the glove?
-> By reading "His eye was caught by something lying on the floor." gave me an idea that "something lying on the floor" is going to be, or was an important thing to Mr. Frank because he "caught" the glove, not just "saw". Also, "He holds it in his hand and suddenly all of his self- control is gone." showed how he couldn't even control himself because of the glove. The glove was that important to him. When he cried, I could guess that the glove belonged to someone important and precious to Mr. Frank:Mrs. Frank, Margaret, or Anne. The author gave a foreshadowing that there is going to be a big tradegy in this drama of loosing someone important.

Anne Frank # 3- Theme

I think the theme of "Anne Frank" is the effects of prejudice. Many Jews, including Anne's family, were affected greatly by prejudice, because they had to hide. This whole drama was about how the effects of prejudice and shows where prejudice can be seen. I think the author's message is that there shouldn't be any unfair prejudice because everyone should be equal. prejudice was found in many parts of this drama. In "Anne Frank", Jews had to wear a yellow star on their clothes and they were treated differently from other people. Preudice and its effect shows clearly in this drama, so I think the theme is about the prejudice.
